Vehicle Change

  • This service is shared by passengers heading to both Ilha Grande and Rio de Janeiro.
  • At the midway transfer point, Ilha Grande passengers will transition to a boat, while Paraty travelers will move to another vehicle to continue onward to the city.
  • Our staff will guide you through the change—simply follow their instructions to ensure a smooth transfer process.

Vehicle Allocation

  • The type of vehicle used on the day of service is determined by the number of passengers confirmed for the transfer.
  • Vehicles can either be sedans (cars) or vans. The choice prioritizes efficiency, and practicality for the group size.
  • Between Paraty and Ilha Grande, smaller passenger volumes are common, therefore sedans are deployed more frequently than vans.

Baggage Rules

Included:

  • 1 medium suitcase (67 × 48 × 27 cm) OR 1 small carry-on (55 × 40 × 25 cm)
  • 1 personal item (e.g. backpack) which will travel on your lap

Extras:

  • Oversized or additional luggage: $20 USD per piece (each way)
  • Notify us ahead of time for unusual items like surfboards or strollers

Important Notes:

  • You carry and handle your own luggage
  • We are not liable for lost items
  • If we recover a lost item, return is subject to a ticket fee

Child Policy

If your child is between 1 & 4 years old, or you wish to bring a child seat, contact us to make a booking.

  • Babies (up to 12 months):
    • Can ride free on a parent’s lap
    • If they’re in a car seat, the cost is half price
  • Kids 1 year and 1 month to 3 years and 11 months old:
    • Pay half price with rights to their own seat
  • Kids 4 years and older:
    • Full ticket price, with rights to their own seat
  • Parents must bring car seats if they use one
  • Car seats are not needed by law on our vehicles

Pick-Up Rules

  • The evening before the service you will be informed of your pick-up time by WhatsApp. Please ensure you provide your correct number during the reservation
  • Some historic center addresses or difficult-access locations may require a nearby meeting point
  • Hotels/hostels: Be ready at the entrance
  • Airbnb/private homes: wait outside
  • Delays may occur due to traffic or other passengers

Service Conditions

  • Service may be operated in a car or a van. depending on how many other passengers there are.
  • Schedules subject to change
  • Delays or cancellations due to weather, health, breakdowns, etc. are not our fault
  • Replacement vehicle arranged within 4 hours in case of breakdown
  • Booking issues notified via email

Shared & Private Transfer Logistics

  • Choose between shared or private transfers from Paraty to Rio de Janeiro.
  • Pick-up directly from your accommodation within the city limits of Paraty or neighbouring Jabaquara (unless access is restricted).
  • WhatsApp notifications sent the night before with a more accurate pick-up time.
  • All vehicles are modern, with air conditioning.

Shared Transfers:

  • Vehicle picks up other passengers along the way.
  • Choose from three departure windows:
    • 06:30 – 07:30 → Est. arrival ~ 13:30/14:00
    • 09:30 – 10:30 → Est. arrival ~ 16:30/17:30
    • 14:00 – 15:00 → Est. arrival ~ 21:00/21:30

Private Transfer

  • The convenience of a private service means that you can choose your own pick-up time.
  • The vehicle will be exclusively for you.

Special Neighborhood Notes

    • Santa Teresa: Drop-off at Explorer Bar only (R. Alm. Alexandrino, 399)
    • Leme (hillside): If up the hill, then drop-off at Novotel Leme (R. Gustavo Sampaio, 320)
    • Copacabana / Ipanema: If staying on Rua Saint Roman (or streets accessed by it), drop-off at nearby hotel where you can get Taxi/Uber.
    • Favelas: Vans do not enter areas deemed Favela’s. Choose a safe hotel in the drop-off areas and take Taxi/Uber from there.
    • Barra da Tijuca or São Conrado: Choose a location in Leblon, Ipanema or Copacabana to be dropped off and make your own way to your accommodation. You can also choose to be dropped off at a Metro Station in Leblon and then take the subway to Barra da Tijuca.
Pick-Up Locations
  • Many of the streets in the Historic Center of Paraty do not allow vehicles to enter. If you are staying on one of those streets, we will set the pick-up from a nearby accessible meeting point.
  • We can have you collected you from your accommodation within the town of Paraty, or neighbouring Jabaquara
  • If you are far out of town or in a difficult to access location, set your pick-up as this central meeting point: Boutique do Açaí – Av. Roberto Silveira, 802
Refunds, Changes & Credits
  • Cancel 78+ hrs before: 75% refund or full credit
  • Cancel 48 –78 hrs before: 50% refund or full credit
  • Cancel <48 hrs before or no-show: No refund
  • Change requests:
    • 1 Free change if 24+ hrs before and space available
    • R$50 fee <24 hrs before
    • R$50 fee: Per each further change
