Rio GIG Airport to Ilha Grande
Now there are regular daily departures from the Rio International Airport (GIG) to Ilha Grande.
There is no airport located on Ilha Grande, and the closest airports are in Rio de Janeiro city. Save time by taking a shuttle directly from the Rio GIG Airport to the island without having to go into Rio city first.
There are 3 departures per day from a meeting point where the van will pass to pick you up. The van comes from the city with other passengers and you must be present at the meeting point by the reserved time.
Ilha Grande to Rio Regular Transfer
These transfers also run in reverse from Ilha Grande to Rio de Janeiro departing daily from the main Vila Abraao tourist pier. There are 3 return transfers to Rio per day, the first departs at 10am and arrives in Rio at 13:30pm approximately. The second return transfer departs the same pier at 13:00 and the usual arrival time is 16:30 depending on traffic. The third departure leaves Ilha Grande at 17:30 getting to Rio around 20:30pm.
Ilha Grande to Rio Airport Transfers
All departures from Ilha Grande offer the possibility of a drop-off at the Rio GIG and Santos Dumont airports, but if you require this make sure the above estimated arrival times are long before your flight's departure in case there are delays. The GIG airport is the first drop off before entering the city, and the Santos Dumont (SDU) is the next drop-off once in the city.
Transport Between Paraty & Ilha Grande
Getting between Paraty and Ilha Grande is also easy, with daily boat and van transfers departing from both locations.
From Paraty, the van starts picking up at 08:00am, 11:30am or 14:00pm. Once everyone is picked up it takes around 3 hours to drive to the port town where the boats depart for the island. Once aboard your included boat transfer, you make the 45 minute crossing between the mainland and the village of Abraao on Ilha Grande.
From Ilha Grande to Paraty the departure starts with your boat crossing from the Abraao pier at either 10:00, 13:00, or 17:30 and you meet a van to take you the rest of the way, dropping off at the hotels of Paraty and Jabaquara.
