Pick-up from the airport in Puerto Maldonado where you will be transported to the port of Rio Madre de Dios river for a 1 hour motorboat trip to the lodge appreciating the jungle spilling over the banks along the way. Once at the lodge you'll be met with a welcoming tropical fruit drink prior to heading out on your first jungle walk. After nightfall prepare yourself for a trip to look for caiman (alligators) around the river.

Starting the day with a walk to a 40-meter tall canopy viewpoint to view colourful birds flying from tree to tree, and hopefully spotting a toucan.  Next jump into a jeep to visit monkey island and spot the various species of monkeys inhabiting it. Embark by boat to the Tambopata National Reserve for a 5 kilometer trek before arriving at Sandoval Lake for your chance to glimpse endangered giant otters.     

An early morning hike into the jungle to start your day looking for more wildlife and with luck hooking a piranha at a river while fishing for the notorious fish.  Following lunch you will head into the jungle to scale a selection of canopy bridges 30 meters above the jungle floor and then back to the lodge for the night.    

An early breakfast and then you will set off on your return towards Puerto Maldonado before a brief look around the market place if time allows. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight.

• There is a minimum group size of 2 people for this tour to be confirmed (you can make a booking of one person and we can check to see if there are others booked for that date)
• Malaria is extremely rare in the Puerto Maldonaldo and the jungle in this region and there has not been any cases contracted locally for many years.That said, there are plenty of mosquitos in the area so it is considered a possibility. Other insect bourne diseases such as yellow fever and dengue are in the area so a good insect repellent and long sleeve shirt plus long trousers are essential.
