Backpacker Tour: Machu Picchu Day Trip

This day trip is for those with not a lot of time to spend in Cusco but wish to see the magical Inca City of Machu Picchu while in the area. This is a long day with an early start and late return. You will be picked-up from your accommodation in Cusco and transferred to your 3 hour train from Ollantaytumbo to Aguas Calientes, a town nearby Machu Picchu. On arrival you will take the tourist bus up to the archeological site and have a guided tour of Machu Picchu before ample free time to explore the site on your own. At a designated time you will once again board your train heading towards Cusco and returned to your accommodation by transfer. By choosing this option you're able to visit one of the world's most amazing places in one day!

Suitability: for anyone with an average - good level of fitness and mobility. This tour takes place at altitude and does require you to carry your own belongings.

Note 1:  It is best to arrive to Cusco a couple of days before departure to acclimatise to the altitude. You will need to arrive by at least 05:30pm the day before the trip to attend a pre-departure briefing.
Note 2:  On your return to Cusco after the trip you are dropped in a central location.
