Colca Canyon trip to see the Condors
This overnight excursion to the Colca Canyon is often a highlight for many who wish to take the opportunity to visit a remote part of Peru. Here, hopefully you will have the opportunity to see the majestic Andean condors soaring over what is said to be one of the world's deepest canyons. The area also offers a contrast to the rest of Peru with its beautiful scenery, distinctive local dress and customs, and the added bonus to take in the breath taking scenery of the Canyon while marveling at the condors in flight.
Your included activity leaves from Arequipa where you will be collected from your Arequipa Hostel by our guide. After a small stopover in a small shop where you can buy some chocolate and coca leaves, you will be heading to Pampas Cañahuas (3500m), a National Reserve where you will have the opportunity to spot some Vicuñas & Alpacas and observe breath-taking landscapes. Travelling through the wetlands of Tocra we can see varieties of migratory birds, including flamingos. You will pass through the crater of an extinct volcano (Chucura), plus also stop at viewpoint where you can spot various surrounding volcanoes. This is also the highest part of the trip (4800m) from where you will see many of the western mountains. The next stop will be at a typical Andean restaurant, where you will be able to enjoy a Peruvian buffet whilst accompanied by Andean music. Later on we will drive to the village of Chivay (3600m) and you will be transferred to your accommodation. In the afternoon you will be taken to swim and relax at the Hot Springs of the Colca Valley, outdoor pools surrounded by huge mountains. After sunset, you will return to your accommodation for the night.
The next day, early in the morning, you will start the trip towards the highlight of the trip, the Cruz Del Condor look-out, where you will have the chance to observe one of the deepest canyons in the world and the majestic condors on the hunt for food. On our way back to the town of Chivay you will visit the towns of Pinchollo, Maca y Yanque, with their beautiful colonial churches, plus the viewpoints of Antahuilque and Choquetico, which will allow us to check out the pre-Inca constructions and the gorgeous landscapes that the Colca Canyon has to offer.
Includes: Tourist transport in shared service, Tour guide, Accommodation, Continental Breakfast, Entry Tax to the valley
Does not include: Lunch & Dinner, Entry to the hot-baths (S/.10)
Remember: We cannot predict nature and although most people who venture to the Cruz Del Condor look-out usually see the Condors, some days they do not appear.
