Lima to Rio using the Green Toad Bus
A common itinerary for visitors to South America is to cross the continent by flying into Lima and then out from Rio de Janeiro, and you can make this trip with the Green Toad Bus.

Although we do not have a product dedicated to this route, we do have a feature you can use while designing your trip on our website which allows you to string together some of the travel passes allowing you to make this trip using the Green Toads Bus backpacking network.

Lima to La Paz
The Inca Hop travel pass takes you from Lima to La Paz in Bolivia passing through Paracas, Huacachina, Cusco, Puno + Copacabana on lake Titicaca before finishing in La Paz.

La Paz to San Pedro de Atacama
The Bolivia to Chile Hop takes you on an adventure through one of the most isolated and beautiful landscapes in South America, the Uyuni Salt Flats. From La Paz you bus it down to the small outpost town of Uyuni before embarking on a 3 day jeep tour which terminates with your transfer to San Pedro de Atacama in the north of Chile.
Next add the San Pedro to Iguazu Hop!
San Pedro to Foz do Iguacu
By continuing with the San Pedro to Iguazu Hop you cover a lot of distance starting in Chile and ending in Brazil. You will stop in the Northern Argentine city of Salta where you have a Guacho day of horses and Argentine BBQ, and also in Puerto Iguazu where we will take you to see the greatest water falls in the the world on our Argentine Falls day trip which ends with a transfer into Brazil!
Cruise into Rio on the Caipirinha Hop!
Foz do Iguacu to Rio de Janeiro
One of the many ways to get to Rio from Foz do Iguazu is by taking the Caipirinha Hop passing some of Southern Brazilīs costal highlights including Florianopolis, Sao Paulo, Paraty and Ilha Grande before your transfer to your accommodation in Rio de Janeiro.
Our recommended minimum time for a trip like this is around 38 days, but remember you can time the trip how you like adding days in places where you think you would like to spend more time, like Cusco for example where you can even Continue Trip adding our Inca Trail backpacking trip!
