One of the most desired backpacker destinations in the world lies at striking distance from Cusco. Everyone must make it to Machu Picchu at least once in their life. The Inca's built this citadel high in the mountains, and it was here it remained hidden from the Spanish conqueres. Travel by train from Cuzco, stay overnight in Aguas Calientes, and explore the ruins the next day before returning to Cuzco.

Note 1:  It is best to arrive to Cusco a couple of days before departure to acclimatise to the altitude. You will need to arrive by at least 05:30pm the day before the trip to attend a pre-departure briefing.
