Salta - Northern Argentine Highlight
Most people stay a good few days in Salta, just for the amount of different things there are to see and do there! Salta is one of Argentina's most historic and stunning cities, with beautiful colonial architecture, museums, parks, artisan markets, a lively restaraunt and bar scene and breathtaking views from San Bernardo hill, reached by cable car from the centre.
Salta is also a great base for exploring the countryside which is home to an abundance of adventure sports activities such as rafting, horse riding and even bungey jumping! It is also nearby to the Argentinian wine region in Cafayate, which is another great day trip from Salta.
Salta is a connection hub, you can travel onwards in your journey to Chile (San Pedro de Atacama) or Puerto Iguazu in Argentina, Buenos Aires and even through to Rio de Janeiro!
A stay in Salta is not complete without a visit to an Argentinian Estancia (Farm) and hanging out with the Gauchos!
Enrique the Gaucho (Argentine Cowboy) from the Sayta Ranch near Salta is a local legend, and you will spend the day on his great Argentine Estancia.
A trip to Enrique's Estancia is a true highlight of your visit to Argentina, perhaps even to South America! You will get the opportunity to try out your horse riding skills (or even lack of!) There are horses for all skill levels from complete beginners to those with their inner Gaucho or Gaucha!
This includes a half day horse riding (all skill levels) and a great lunch the Argentine way (and even the vegetarian Argentine way!).
You will get to experience succulent steaks cooked in front of you on a large Argentinian parrilla and relax after your adventurous day in the countryside. The human company is fascinating, the horses are excellent and the experience is unforgettable!
The food and wine are included and even if you do not want to horse ride you can just hang-out on the farm and drink complementary wine while you wait for lunch!
