Note 1: It is best to arrive to Cusco a couple of days before departure to acclimatise to the altitude. You will need to arrive by at least 05:30pm the day before the trip to attend a pre-departure briefing.
Note 2: On your return to Cusco after the trip you are dropped in a central location close to the Plaza del Armas.
This tour takes place at altitude and does require you to carry your own belongings. You have the option to upgrade to a Comfort Class Trek while making your reservation. This option includes a porter to help with carrying belongings, sleeping bag, and trekking poles among other things.

UPRADE TO COMFORT CLASS
We would be lying if we said the Inca Trail is easy, so while making your booking you might consider adding a bit of comfort. The upgrade includes your own porter to carry 11 kilos of your belongings, and this frees you up to concentrate on the walking and enjoying the scenery. You will still carry a day pack for items you need while walking such as raincoat, warm clothes in case it gets cold and snacks; but your heavier items including your change of clothes, toiletries, sleeping bag, and mattress will be waiting for you when you reach the camp at the end of the day.
